Pithoragarh: A murder case has been registered after the blood-stained body of a 37-year-old man was found under suspicious circumstances along the Dunakot road in Didihat tehsil of Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district.Police have launched an investigation after the deceased’s mother accused a vehicle driver of murdering her son.
According to police, the incident came to light late Monday night when passersby spotted a man lying injured and covered in blood near Kafalwa Bend on the Dunakot route. They immediately informed the police. A police team reached the spot around 11:30 pm and shifted the victim to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in an ambulance, where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased was identified as Bhupendra Singh Chauhan (37), a resident of Hunera village. Police said the victim had multiple injuries on his head and body, indicating that the death was not accidental. A forensic team visited the scene and collected evidence as part of the investigation.
The victim’s mother later lodged a complaint at Didihat police station, alleging that a vehicle driver had murdered her son. She stated that Bhupendra had travelled to Didihat market earlier in the day and was returning home with the accused driver before the incident occurred.
Based on the complaint, police have registered an FIR against the accused driver under relevant legal provisions. Officials said the investigation is underway and all aspects of the case are being examined.
Circle Officer Umesh Malik said that the injuries found on the victim’s body suggest homicide, and police are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have assured that the case will be solved at the earliest.
