Dehradun, 3 Nov: The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad is organising a ‘Bahubhasha Sammelan’ on regional languages in which Uttarakhandi language activist and global award for best planning and implementation (plan international) winner Gajendra Nautiyal will participate from the state.
IIIT is running an open knowledge project on language promotion. It is organising a 3-day workshop on 6-8 November. In this event, language activists, policy makers and IT experts will discuss language policy and infrastructure for digital societies. Sessions will cover language policy in Education & Governance, tech-policy interventions for low-resource languages, Future of Language Activism, AI and Indian Languages: Promise and Problems, Introduction to NLP and Machine Translation tools for Indian languages, Language Tools for Public Services, localisation and Digital Inclusion and come out with an action plan
Gajendra Nautiyal says that outcomes of this event will help language activists and the Uttarakhand state government to take appropriate action on language and its sustainability and easy access for new learners.
