Dehradun, 3 Nov: Police have arrested a woman for the death of her 4-year-old stepson. The accused, Priya, a resident of Ambedkar Colony, Shimla Bypass Road, Dehradun, allegedly pushed the child in anger, which led to his death.
According to the police, the complaint was filed by Rahul Kumar, the child’s father and a resident of Bullawala village in Doiwala. Rahul stated that, after the death of his first wife, he had married Priya. His son Vivaan, from the first marriage, lived with him.
On 27 October 2025, while Rahul was at work, Priya pushed the boy during an argument. The child fell on the floor and became unconscious. He was seriously injured and died on the way to the hospital.
The father told police that Priya often behaved harshly with Vivaan and used to beat him over small matters. Based on his complaint, a case of culpable homicide was registered against Priya at Doiwala Police Station under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Taking the case seriously, SSP Dehradun directed immediate action. Police questioned neighbours and gathered information, after which Priya was taken into custody. During interrogation, she confessed that she had pushed her stepson in anger, causing his fatal injury. She was arrested on 2 November, after questioning.
The police team involved in the case included Sub-Inspector Vinod Singh Rana, Sub-Inspector Rajnarayan Vyas, Woman Head Constable Sonika, and Woman Constable Rachna Rawat.
