Police have released a special traffic plan for Christmas and New Year to manage heavy tourist rush in Dehradun and Mussoorie. The plan will be implemented on different days between 20 December and 1 January. To reduce congestion, several routes will be diverted, parking areas fixed, and traffic restrictions enforced.
According to traffic police, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 30 December to 1 January. Crowd-prone areas will be monitored through CCTV cameras, and mounted police will also be deployed. Vehicles parked in no-parking zones or causing obstruction will be removed using cranes.
Traffic SP Lokjeet Singh said route diversions and alternative routes, especially for Mussoorie traffic, will be updated on Google Maps so that visitors can plan travel easily. Separate movement plans have been prepared for vehicles coming from Delhi, Haridwar, Rishikesh and other routes.
In Mussoorie, traffic will be regulated through one-way systems, diversions and shuttle services if parking reaches capacity. If 70 percent of parking fills up, Plan B will start, followed by shuttle-based plans from King Craig, Gajji Bend or Kuthal Gate if needed. Several parking locations have been identified in Mussoorie and Dehradun to handle the rush.
