Weather conditions changed suddenly in Uttarakhand on Friday morning as the season’s first snowfall was recorded in Mussoorie and several high-altitude areas. After light rainfall and a sharp drop in temperature, the hills, roads and deodar forests of Mussoorie were covered in a fresh layer of snow. While Mussoorie witnessed snowfall, Dehradun and other lower regions experienced continuous rainfall throughout the day.

Intermittent snowfall was reported from Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, Chakrata, Auli, Gangotri, Tehri and nearby higher regions. In Mussoorie, areas around Company Garden, Mall Road and the Kempty Fall road saw snow accumulation, completely changing the landscape. Tourists and local residents were seen enjoying the weather despite the cold conditions.

Snowfall-related videos and reels started circulating on social media platforms from early morning. Visuals of tourists making snowballs, snowfall viewed from hotel balconies and drone shots showing snow-covered valleys were widely shared. Hashtags related to Mussoorie snowfall and Uttarakhand winter began trending as the hill station drew online attention.

Tourists said snowfall was delayed this year compared to last winter but the experience made the wait worthwhile. In previous years, snowfall in Mussoorie and other parts of Uttarakhand had begun by the end of December, while this season saw snowfall towards the end of January.
