Dehradun, 10 Oct: A delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs called on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Secretariat here today and submitted a memorandum requesting the cancellation of the recently held graduate-level UKSSSC examination, citing the sentiments and concerns of students. The MLAs expressed gratitude to the CM for facilitating over 25,000 government appointments and for initiating a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the examination scandal, which had caused widespread unrest among aspirants.
The delegation comprised BJP MLAs Khajan Das, Dilip Singh Rawat, Vinod Kandari, Brij Bhushan Gairola, Durgeshwar Lal, Suresh Chauhan, Mohan Singh Bisht, and Renu Bisht. These MLAs conveyed to the CM that the students are the future of the state and the nation, and that any lingering doubts regarding the integrity of the examination process should be addressed decisively. In their memorandum, they urged Dhami to consider cancelling the graduate-level examination conducted by UKSSSC, in the larger interest of the student community.
Speaking to the media following the meeting, Khajan Das thanked the CM for ensuring 25,300 government appointments and acknowledged his prompt response when the paper leak incident came to light. He recalled that CM Dhami had met the students personally and announced a CBI inquiry in accordance with their demands and by doing so, had demonstrated a ‘commendable sense of responsibility’ and empathy. Das stated that the CM had assured them at the time that all necessary steps would be taken to safeguard the future of the students. He reiterated that the MLAs, as representatives of the people, have collectively appealed for the cancellation of the examination to dispel any doubts regarding its transparency and fairness.
Das further mentioned that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry had initially been recommended to identify the source of the malpractice and those responsible. However, to ensure complete transparency and restore public confidence, the CM had subsequently recommended a CBI investigation. Purola MLA Durgeshwar Lal, who was also part of the delegation, described the decision to initiate a CBI inquiry as historic. He stated that the MLAs had interacted with students and their families in their respective constituencies and were conveying their genuine concerns to the Government. Lal emphasised that the hard work of students who appeared for the examination, as well as those preparing for future recruitment processes, should not be undermined by any suspicion or controversy. Hence, the delegation, on behalf of the party, requested the CM to consider cancelling the examination in the interest of justice and student welfare.
BJP State Media In-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan was also present during the meeting with the CM.
