Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored 261 students at a program organized by the Sanskrit Education Department at the Chief Minister’s residence, Mukhyasevak Sadan. Under the Sanskrit Student Talent Award 2024-25, 24 meritorious students from Class 10 and 12 were awarded ₹5,100, ₹4,100, and ₹3,100 for securing the first, second, and third positions, respectively.
Additionally, 148 students received awards under the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Scheduled Caste-Tribe Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme 2024-25, while 89 female students were honored under the Gargi Sanskrit Girls’ Scholarship Scheme. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to preserve and promote Sanskrit education. He highlighted that the Gargi Sanskrit Girls’ Scholarship was introduced to support female students studying in Sanskrit schools, providing an annual scholarship of ₹3,012. Similarly, the Scheduled Caste-Tribe Scholarship Scheme also offers ₹3,012 annually.
The Chief Minister announced plans to develop 13 Sanskrit villages across all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. He also mentioned that the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy, Haridwar, is actively organizing various initiatives such as All India Research Conferences, Astrology Conferences, Vedic Conferences, Poetry Gatherings, Skill Development Workshops, and Student Competitions to promote Sanskrit language and culture.
CM Dhami also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in reviving India’s ancient heritage and culture. He stated that Uttarakhand is undergoing significant innovation, with its development model receiving national recognition. He further noted that Uttarakhand’s diaspora is proud of the rapid progress being made in the state.
The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLA Sarita Kapoor, Sanskrit Education Secretary Deepak Kumar Gairola, Sanskrit Education Director Anand Bhardwaj, and other dignitaries.
