Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami marked the third anniversary of the state government by flagging off a Cycle Rally and participating in the Fit India Run. The event aimed to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle among citizens, especially the youth.
The cycle rally commenced at 7:30 AM from the CM’s residence and passed through Malsi, Mussoorie Diversion, Helipad, IT Park, and Khalanga War Memorial, where the participants took a brief snack break. The rally concluded at Hotel Alaya with a breakfast session. Approximately 70 riders participated in the event, reflecting strong public enthusiasm for fitness.
Following the rally, CM Dhami addressed a large gathering of young athletes at Maharana Pratap Sports College. Emphasizing the importance of fitness, he participated in push-ups alongside the athletes to boost their enthusiasm. The Chief Minister also administered the Fit India Pledge and distributed drones to top-performing students from the state’s drone training program, organized with the support of the Youth Welfare Department.
Encouraging a Healthy Lifestyle
CM Dhami highlighted the significance of maintaining fitness through regular exercise and nutritious diets. He urged the youth to stay away from substance abuse and make physical activity a part of their daily routine. The Chief Minister expressed that a healthy society is the foundation of a prosperous Uttarakhand.
Referring to his childhood memories, he encouraged young athletes to persevere through challenges. He commended the athletes who have brought pride to the nation and stressed the importance of unwavering determination and dedication to achieving dreams.
Promoting Sports Infrastructure
The Chief Minister also reflected on the state’s successful hosting of the 38th National Games, which earned praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Uttarakhand athletes secured 103 medals in the games, placing the state in the 7th position in the medal tally. Acknowledging their achievements, CM Dhami announced the doubling of cash rewards for medalists and confirmed their direct recruitment in various government departments under the Out of Turn Appointment Policy.

He further noted the state’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure. Uttarakhand has developed world-class sports facilities and invested in procuring modern equipment. Schemes like the Mukhyamantri Udaymaan Khelari Yojana and the Mukhyamantri Protsahan Yojana are encouraging the participation of young athletes.
Emphasizing the goals of the Fit India Movement, CM Dhami reiterated that a Fit Uttarakhand would pave the way for a Prosperous Uttarakhand, contributing significantly to the country’s growth.
