Devband-Roorkee New Rail Line to Cut Delhi-Dehradun Distance by 40 km

The newly approved Devband-Roorkee railway line is set to reduce the Delhi-Dehradun rail distance by 40 kilometers. The 29.55-km-long project has received clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), and a successful speed trial at 122 kmph was recently conducted.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for the project. He stated that this development will open new avenues for progress in the state by boosting tourism, employment, and trade.

CM Dhami highlighted that under PM Modi’s leadership, India’s infrastructure is advancing rapidly, and strengthening Uttarakhand’s railway network is a key priority. The Devband-Roorkee rail line is a historic step in that direction.
