Coach Fired Over Minor’s Rape Case; Sports Min Assures Justice

Haridwar: The contract of a hockey coach accused of raping a minor player in Haridwar’s Roshanabad has been terminated with immediate effect. Uttarakhand Sports Minister Rekha Arya visited the victim and her family late Monday, offering assurances of full support and assistance.

Speaking on the incident, Minister Arya condemned the coach, stating that he had disgraced his profession. She has directed the department to revoke his coaching certificate and issue a public notification to ensure he is barred from coaching anywhere in the future.

The minister also instructed the police to gather forensic and other critical evidence to build a strong case against the accused. “There is no place for such crimes in Devbhoomi. The government and sports ministry stand firmly with the victim and her family. A zero-tolerance policy will be maintained,” Arya asserted.
