Dehradun: A tragic road accident occurred near Lalpul in the Patel Nagar area of Dehradun when a city bus ran over six labourers walking along the roadside. One of the injured workers died during treatment, while the condition of the remaining five is reported to be critical.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus suddenly lost control and hit several people near the roadside. The impact caused panic in the area, with screams and chaos breaking out immediately after the accident. A large crowd gathered at the spot as injured victims lay on the road awaiting assistance.

Witnesses said the accident led to severe traffic congestion, with long queues of vehicles forming on both sides of the road. The situation became more difficult when injured persons reportedly remained stranded for some time as no vehicle driver initially came forward to transport them to the hospital.

Locals Help Shift Victims to Hospital

As emergency response was delayed, local residents stepped in to help. Several injured victims were shifted to nearby hospitals in e-rickshaws and auto-rickshaws with assistance from local people and police personnel. Police reportedly had to stop passing vehicles to ensure that the injured received immediate medical attention.

Preliminary information suggests that the bus driver may have suffered a seizure while driving, leading to the loss of control. The driver has been taken into police custody, and authorities are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the accident.
