Dehradun is witnessing a rise in swine flu and dengue cases, prompting the health department to strengthen surveillance and preparedness across the district.
On Sunday, 83 samples were tested for swine flu, with 31 testing positive for H1N1. Of these, 23 patients are from Dehradun, while eight are from other districts.
According to health department data, 1,293 swine flu samples have been tested so far, with 484 patients found infected. Of these, 398 patients have recovered, while 84 cases remain active. The infected patients include 227 women and 257 men.
The health department has directed hospitals to remain alert and increase public awareness about preventive measures. Separate dengue wards have also been prepared at hospitals as part of the preparedness measures.
Meanwhile, two new dengue cases were confirmed through ELISA testing in the district, taking the total number of dengue cases to 162. So far, 29,092 samples have been tested, with 162 patients testing positive. Of these, 140 patients have recovered, while 22 are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Dengue prevention activities are also continuing across the district. ASHA workers and volunteers are conducting door-to-door surveys to identify potential mosquito breeding sites.
So far, the teams have surveyed 9,46,202 houses and inspected 59,38,155 containers. Mosquito larvae were found in 22,286 of the containers inspected.
The health department is continuing surveillance and preventive measures as both H1N1 and dengue cases remain under monitoring in Dehradun.
