The Election Commission has finalized the electoral college list for the 2025 Vice Presidential election, following the unexpected resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. The Commission confirmed this development on Thursday, stating that the list will be available for purchase at a designated counter in the EC office once the official notification is issued.
The Vice President of India is elected by an electoral college comprising elected and nominated members of the Rajya Sabha and elected members of the Lok Sabha. The Commission noted that preparations are complete, and the formal notification for the election process is expected soon.
Dhankhar resigned from the post on July 21, despite having more than two years remaining in his term. His resignation has triggered the need for a fresh election to fill the vacant position.
