Now, Get Free Legal Help at Dehradun DM Office – Lawyers Appointed for Public Assistance

Dehradun: In a first for the district, the Dehradun District Magistrate’s office has launched a Legal Aid Center, offering free legal advice and government-appointed lawyers to assist the public. This initiative aims to support economically weaker and illiterate individuals who struggle with legal matters and cannot afford legal representation.

District Magistrate Savin Bansal initiated this step after noticing that many people attending the public grievance meetings lacked access to legal support. Responding to this issue, the District Legal Services Authority has deployed two paralegal volunteers, who will be available at the DM office every Monday to provide free legal assistance.

The Legal Aid Center will guide individuals on ongoing court cases, offer legal advice, and ensure that those who cannot afford private lawyers receive legal representation. The initiative is expected to benefit people facing difficulties in court proceedings, property disputes, family matters, and other legal issues.

Officials have stated that paralegal volunteers will not only assist with legal queries but also educate the underprivileged about their constitutional and legal rights. By ensuring free access to justice, the administration hopes to bridge the gap between the legal system and those who need it the most.
