Widespread rain and strong winds have disrupted normal life across several districts, including Haldwani and Almora, as a western disturbance remains active over the region. Stormy conditions began on Sunday afternoon and continued into Monday morning with strong winds affecting both hilly and plain areas.
In Haldwani, gusty winds that started around early morning hours caused damage to electricity lines, leading to prolonged power cuts in many areas. According to officials, falling trees damaged the main power line in several locations. While restoration work is underway, faults still remain in multiple areas, especially in rural zones and Gaulapar region.
The power outage has also triggered a water crisis in the city, as tube wells could not be operated and household water pumps stopped functioning. Residents are facing dual difficulties due to the disruption of both electricity and water supply.
Continuous rainfall has also led to waterlogging in several areas, while a noticeable drop in temperature has been recorded. The weather department has predicted more rainfall across the region.
