ICFRE Annual Meeting: Union Minister Bhupender Yadav Stresses Wider Reach of Research and Technologies

Dehradun: The 31st Annual General Meeting of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) was held on Monday at the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. The meeting was chaired by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and President of the ICFRE Society, Bhupender Yadav. He was welcomed by ICFRE Director General and Member Secretary of the Society, Kanchan Devi.

During the meeting, the ICFRE Annual Report 2023–24 and the audited financial statements for 2023–24 were presented, discussed, and unanimously approved for submission before both Houses of Parliament.

Yadav praised ICFRE’s efforts and emphasized the importance of taking its technologies and research findings to the end users. He highlighted that effective outreach of forestry innovations is crucial for addressing contemporary environmental challenges.

On this occasion, the Soil Health Card web portal was launched to strengthen sustainable land-use practices. Additionally, four new publications were released: Earning from Casuarina: High-Yield Varieties and New Cultivation Techniques, ICFRE Expansion Strategy 2025–30, Compilation of Lesser-Known Forest Plants: Insights and Opportunities, and Breeding Programs for Major Tree Species of India.
