India Shares Counter-Terror Strategy with Parliamentary Panel

A key meeting of the Parliamentary Advisory Committee was held today to review India’s response to cross-border terrorism. The government briefed members on its strategy, which includes targeted operations on terror camps inside Pakistan, diplomatic efforts, and garnering international support.

Officials revealed that India had successfully struck terrorist bases in Pakistan, causing a dent in the morale of the Pakistani army, which failed to protect these camps. The government emphasized that India has received widespread global backing in its anti-terror operations, while Pakistan remains diplomatically isolated with the exception of support from Turkey, Azerbaijan, and China.

During the meeting, Congress raised questions about allegations that the External Affairs Minister had informed Pakistan about planned strikes. In response, the government clarified that there was no communication between the two countries prior to the strikes. “There were no talks beyond Director General Military Operations (DGMO) level, and even that occurred post-strike,” officials stated. After the strike, a press release was issued by PIB, followed by contact initiated by India’s DGMO with his Pakistani counterpart.

The External Affairs Minister strongly refuted Congress’s claims, calling them dishonest and a distortion of facts.

The committee also questioned the government about the current status of the Indus Waters Treaty. In response, it was confirmed that the suspension of the treaty remains in effect for now, and any future action will be communicated to the Parliament.
