The revered Kedarnath Dham, a vital center of the Char Dham Yatra, will ceremoniously reopen its doors to devotees on May 2. Ahead of this spiritual event, the temple has been magnificently adorned with 108 quintals of flowers, creating a divine and colorful ambiance that promises a mesmerizing experience for pilgrims.
The flowers, sourced by committees from Rishikesh and Gujarat, have been used extensively to decorate the temple and its surroundings, significantly enhancing its grandeur and filling the area with a spiritually uplifting fragrance. With the ceremonial opening just a day away, devotees have already begun arriving, transforming the region into a devotional hub.
Today, the Panchmukhi Utsav Doli (festive palanquin) of Lord Kedarnath reached the shrine from its third stop at Gaurikund. The procession was conducted with traditional rituals, symbolizing the spiritual journey leading up to the temple’s opening. All preparations for welcoming devotees and the ceremonial reopening have been completed.
According to Dr. Harish Gaur, media in-charge of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), the doors of Kedarnath Temple will be opened on Friday, May 2, at 7:00 AM. BKTC Chief Executive Officer Vijay Prasad Thapliyal is already stationed at the temple and is overseeing all arrangements before the pilgrimage begins.
An administrative meeting was also held at the Dham today, where CEO Thapliyal instructed all departments to fulfill their responsibilities diligently. The meeting was attended by Officer-in-Charge Girish Dewli, priest Bagesh Ling, Senior Administrative Officer Yaduveer Pushpwan, Vipin Tiwari, Doli In-charge Pradeep Semwal, Manager Arvind Shukla, Prakash Purohit, JE Vipin Kumar, Kuldeep Dharmwan, and Lalit Trivedi among others.

The doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines were opened to devotees on April 30, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Badrinath Dham is scheduled to reopen on Sunday, May 4, at 6:00 AM.
