Kumaon University chemistry professor Nand Gopal Sahu has been included in Stanford University’s 2025 list of the world’s top 2% of scientists for the seventh consecutive year, recognising his research contributions in polymer science and nanoscience.

The ranking provides two categories: the single-year list, which reflects research impact during 2025, and the career-long list, which measures a researcher’s overall contribution from 1960 to 2025. In the 2025 single-year ranking, Sahu was ranked 850th in polymer science and 914th in nanoscience and nanotechnology. In the career-long ranking, he was placed at 1,986th in polymer science and 1,854th in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Sahu’s experimental and theoretical research focuses on polymers and nanomaterials, energy storage systems, waste management, environmentally sustainable chemical processes and the development of advanced materials.

His research has included the development of high-performance polymers and nanostructured materials for applications in batteries, supercapacitors and other energy devices. These studies have contributed to research into energy-efficient technologies while also exploring materials and processes aimed at addressing environmental challenges.

His work has applications beyond academic research, including the development of environmentally sustainable materials, energy-efficient devices and scientific solutions that can be useful in both industry and education.

Kumaon University Vice-Chancellor Prof SPS Bisht, Registrar Prof Ritesh Sah and other university officials congratulated Sahu on the achievement and appreciated his continued research efforts.
