UP: Preparations for Mahakumbh 2025 are in full swing in Prayagraj, with special training programs initiated by the Tourism Department to enhance the hospitality experience for pilgrims and tourists. The program focuses on training guides, taxi drivers, boatmen, and vendors to improve communication and service skills, ensuring visitors have a memorable experience while exploring the city’s grandeur.
Categories and Goals of the Training
Regional Tourism Officer Aparajita Singh stated that an MoU has been signed with the Kanshiram Institute of Tourism Management, Lucknow, and another organization to conduct the training. The program is divided into four categories, with 60 trainees per batch. The five-day guide training focuses on storytelling techniques, city knowledge covering mythological, historical, and religious sites, and effective communication with tourists. Trainees also learn first aid to assist visitors in emergencies.
Specialized Training for Drivers and Boatmen
Taxi drivers are being trained in digital payment processes, traffic rules, and delivering the message of a plastic-free Kumbh. Aparajita Singh emphasized that taxi drivers are often the first point of contact for tourists, making their conduct critical. Boatmen and vendors are also receiving training on environmental sensitivity and customer service to enhance the overall experience.
This training initiative aims to improve the tourism experience, make the Kumbh Mela environmentally friendly, and showcase the city’s uniqueness in an engaging manner.
