The Election Commission has released the draft electoral roll in Uttarakhand following the completion of the first phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Addressing a press conference in Dehradun, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that around 19 lakh voters will receive notices due to discrepancies found in their SIR forms.

According to the Election Commission, all objections and notices will be resolved by September 11. Hearings for voters in rural areas will be conducted at the Nyaya Panchayat level to ensure timely disposal of cases before the publication of the final electoral roll.

The newly released draft electoral roll includes 71,33,785 registered voters across the state. Of these, approximately 37.23 lakh (52%) are men and 34.23 lakh (47%) are women. District-wise, Haridwar has around 12.45 lakh voters, followed by Dehradun (11.90 lakh) and Udham Singh Nagar (11.55 lakh). Smaller districts include Rudraprayag (1.80 lakh), Champawat (1.88 lakh) and Bageshwar (2,00,919) voters.

Officials also informed that the number of polling stations in Uttarakhand has increased from 11,733 to 12,543 to improve voter accessibility. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 15 after completing the scrutiny process.

Voters who submitted their SIR forms can verify their names in the draft electoral roll through the Chief Electoral Officer’s website using their EPIC (Voter ID) number. They can also check the list with their Booth Level Officer (BLO) or at the offices of the District Election Officer, SDM, or Tehsildar. Inclusion in the draft roll indicates that the voter’s registration has been retained, although those with discrepancies may still receive notices for verification.

The Election Commission clarified that voters who failed to submit their SIR forms and were marked as “uncollectable” by their BLOs will not find their names in the draft electoral roll. Such voters must submit Form-6 along with the prescribed declaration to apply afresh for voter registration.
