With the surge of tourists in Nainital, authorities have imposed a restriction on two-wheeler tourist vehicles entering the city starting Monday. On Sunday, the city’s hotels were fully occupied, with room tariffs witnessing a hike of up to 50%. Parking lots also overflowed with tourist vehicles as more than 10,000 visitors arrived.
In response to the increased traffic, police implemented a diversion plan at Bhowali Masjid Tiraha. However, checkpoints at the Russian Bypass and Narayan Nagar were not required. To maintain traffic flow, two-wheeler tourist vehicles will be stopped at the Russian Bypass and Kaladhungi. If congestion worsens, four-wheeler vehicles may also face restrictions.
Local businesses are anticipating further increases in tourist arrivals, especially after Eid. Popular attractions like Snow View, Cave Garden, Botanical Garden, Himalayan Darshan, and the Nainital Zoo saw significant footfall on Sunday, with boating on Naini Lake drawing large crowds.
