S-400 missile system proved decisive in strikes on terror camps, says IAF Chief

Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh said that the S-400 long-range missile system played a pivotal role in Operation Sindoor. He highlighted that the advanced radar and missile capabilities of the system prevented enemy fighter jets from feeling secure even within their own territory.

“S-400 had a greater range than enemy weapons, which stopped them from reaching our strike distance. Those who tried advancing faced heavy losses. This system proved to be a game changer for us,” Singh stated. He added that the Air Force adopted such effective tactics that enemy pilots hesitated to operate within their own airspace, giving India a decisive edge.

A day earlier, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan revealed key details about the operation. He said the strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK were carried out between 1 and 1:30 a.m. on May 7. According to him, the timing was chosen for two reasons—confidence in India’s intelligence and technological ability to capture precise evidence even at night, and ensuring civilian safety by targeting terrorists in the dark hours.

Operation Sindoor was India’s firm response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The Indian forces destroyed several Pakistani air bases and neutralized terror hideouts, compelling Pakistan to request a ceasefire after facing heavy setbacks.
