The Youth Congress has launched the “Main Bhi Ankita Bhandari” campaign in Pauri Garhwal, demanding justice for Ankita Bhandari’s family and raising concerns over the impartiality of the Central Bureau of Investigation probe in the case.

The campaign was formally launched at the district headquarters by Youth Congress National General Secretary and Uttarakhand in-charge Surbhi Dwivedi. Addressing party workers and local residents, she said the fight for justice is not limited to one victim but is linked to the safety, dignity, and rights of daughters across the country.

During an interaction with journalists at the District Congress Committee office, Surbhi Dwivedi questioned the state government’s intent, pointing out that it took nearly three years to recommend a CBI investigation in the Ankita Bhandari case. She stated that such a delay raises serious questions about the government’s commitment to a transparent and time-bound investigation.

She added that through the campaign, the Youth Congress aims to amplify the voices of women and ensure accountability in cases involving crimes against women. The organisation plans to take the campaign across Uttarakhand and other parts of the country in the coming days.

Youth Congress State General Secretary Swati Negi also criticised the handling of the case by the state leadership. She alleged that the Chief Minister summoned Ankita Bhandari’s parents to Dehradun, while it would have been more appropriate for him to visit their village and meet the family directly.

The Youth Congress leaders said they would continue pressing for a fair and unbiased investigation and sustained public attention on the case until justice is delivered to the victim’s family.
