Pushpak Express Accident: 16 Dead in Jalgaon, CM Announces Aid

A tragic rail accident near Pardhade station in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, on Wednesday evening claimed 16 lives. Twenty injured passengers are receiving treatment at Jalgaon Civil Hospital. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced ₹5 lakh compensation for the kin of the deceased and free treatment for the injured.

Incident Details

The accident occurred around 5:15 PM when rumors of a fire on the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express caused panic. In the chaos, 40 passengers jumped off the train and were struck by the Karnataka Express heading from Mumbai to Delhi. The mishap resulted in 16 fatalities and 20 injuries.

Relief and Rescue Operations

Railway and district authorities are actively engaged in rescue efforts. CM Fadnavis, currently on a Davos visit, reviewed the situation with District Magistrate and Minister Girish Mahajan at the site. Train services have resumed, and the Pushpak Express has continued its journey to Mumbai.
