Relief for Farmers: Modi Government Increases Subsidy on DAP Fertilizer

To provide significant relief to farmers, the Modi government has approved a special package of ₹3,850 crore to increase subsidies on Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that under this decision, a 50-kilogram DAP bag will now be available for ₹1,350.

This scheme will be effective from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, ensuring affordable access to DAP fertilizer for farmers. Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Revised Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) have been extended until 2025-26, with a total allocation of ₹69,515.71 crore.

Focus on Technology and Transparency

To promote technological innovation and enhance transparency, the cabinet has allocated ₹824.77 crore for a special “Profile Fund.” This fund will support research, development, and digital initiatives such as YES-TECH and WINDS, streamlining claim processes and improving service delivery.
