India and Pakistan Exchange Nuclear and Civilian Prisoner Lists

India and Pakistan exchanged lists of their nuclear installations and facilities on Wednesday under the 1988 Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations, implemented in 1991. This annual exercise aims to ensure nuclear safety and has been conducted consistently since January 1, 1992, marking the 34th exchange this year.

Exchange of Civilian Prisoner and Fishermen Lists

In addition to nuclear lists, both nations also exchanged lists of civilian prisoners and fishermen as per the 2008 Consular Access Agreement. India shared details of 381 civilian prisoners and 81 fishermen, while Pakistan provided a list of 49 civilian prisoners and 217 fishermen in its custody.

India’s Appeal to Pakistan

The Ministry of External Affairs urged Pakistan to release 183 Indian nationals, including fishermen, who have completed their sentences. Additionally, India requested consular access for 18 Indian citizens and sought assurances for the safety and well-being of all Indian detainees in Pakistan.
