Rishikesh: The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has sealed Ganga Inn Hotel in connection with a case involving the alleged rape of a minor at the property.
The incident was reported at Ganga Inn Hotel near Old Railway Road in Rishikesh. Police had earlier arrested the accused, Sofiyan, a resident of Jansath, in connection with the case.
During the investigation, police found that the hotel’s CCTV cameras had been switched off when the minor was being taken out of the hotel. Based on the investigation, police also arrested hotel manager Vaibhav Gupta, a resident of Marg No. 2, Dehradun Road, Rishikesh, and hotel operator Rahul Agrawal, a resident of Advaitanand Marg, Rishikesh.
CCTV Cameras Switched Off During Incident
According to the investigation, the hotel’s CCTV system was turned off while the victim was being taken out of the premises. Police subsequently questioned hotel staff and management over the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The arrests of the hotel manager and operator followed the investigation into the alleged disabling of the CCTV cameras.
Police Search for Mustafa
Police have also received information that Mustafa, another associate of the main accused Sofiyan, had reached the hotel.
Mustafa is allegedly accused of destroying or attempting to destroy evidence inside the hotel room. Police have intensified efforts to locate and arrest him.
The investigation into the case is continuing, while the sealing of the hotel by the MDDA adds an administrative action to the police investigation.
