Devprayag – For the first time, Sanskrit commentary is being used in a university cricket tournament at Shri Raghunath Kirti Sanskrit University, Devprayag. Leading this initiative is Dr. Shriom Sharma, who has developed over 150 new Sanskrit terms related to cricket.
The tournament features 18 teams, with each team including two female players. Apart from Sanskrit, commentary is also being provided in Garhwali and Kumaoni, adding a regional touch to the event.
Dr. Sharma aims to make Sanskrit more accessible and popular among the masses. He believes these newly coined words could be used in major cricket matches in the future, enhancing both the language’s relevance and the spectator experience.
