SCO Summit: Jaishankar Calls for Firm Action Against Terrorism

During the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Astana, Kazakhstan, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar emphasized the urgent need for a united fight against terrorism, separatism, and extremism. Labeling these as the biggest threats to global peace, he advocated strict punishment for terrorism’s financiers and sponsors, subtly pointing fingers at Pakistan.

Collective Fight Against Terrorism

Dr. Jaishankar called for a comprehensive and decisive approach to counter terrorism, highlighting its threat to both global and national stability. He underscored the role of SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) as crucial in combating terrorism effectively.

Reaffirmation of Commitments

The minister praised the SCO member nations’ commitment to tackling terrorism, separatism, and extremism. He also referred to the resolutions from the previous Delhi SCO Summit, where unified action against radicalism and its funding sources was strongly emphasized.
