Shopian Encounter: Huge Cache of Weapons Seized, Three Lashkar Terrorists Killed

A day after three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an encounter in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, security forces have recovered a large cache of weapons from the site. The encounter took place on May 13 in the Shukru forest area of Keller, Shopian, where a joint operation by security forces successfully neutralized the terrorists.

Among the slain militants was Shahid Kutte, a top Lashkar commander, along with Adnan Shafi. The third terrorist was later identified as Ahsan-ul-Haq Sheikh, a resident of Murran in Pulwama district. Following the gunfight, a significant quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered, including AK-47 rifles, magazines, grenades, and other equipment.

The operation began when security forces received inputs about terrorist presence in the region. During a cordon and search operation, the militants opened fire, triggering a fierce encounter. The swift retaliation by security forces led to the elimination of all three Lashkar terrorists.

This encounter is seen as another major success in the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in Kashmir, coming just days after intensified operations to track down militants involved in the recent Pahalgam attack.
