A cooperative conference was organized at the New Tehri district headquarters to mark the International Year of Cooperatives. Uttarakhand’s Cooperation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, the chief guest at the event, announced an ambitious goal of creating 25,000 Lakhpati Didis in Tehri district this year.

He stated that every Gram Panchayat in the district will have one cooperative society, which will serve as a one-stop solution for local people by offering medicines, organic products, and essential services including birth and death certificates. The initiative aims to curb migration by providing employment and entrepreneurship opportunities to women and youth in rural areas.

Dr. Rawat also announced that 20 new doctors will be appointed in Tehri district within the next 15 days to improve healthcare access. Health camps will be set up in every Gram Panchayat to distribute free medicines and offer medical consultations.

During the event, women associated with self-help groups received interest-free loan cheques to support their ventures. Prominent attendees included MLA Kishore Upadhyay, former MLA Dr. Dhan Singh Negi, and former Cooperative Bank Chairman Subhash Ramola.
