Under the National Education Policy (NEP), Uttarakhand is preparing to conduct Class 10 board exams twice a year. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, during a review meeting held at the Secretariat, directed officials to ensure timely implementation of NEP provisions, including new exam patterns and structural reforms. Education Secretary Ravinath Raman and Additional Secretary Ranjana Rajguru were present at the meeting.
Bardhan instructed the expansion of the Bharat Darshan Yojana under secondary education. This year, at least 1,000 students will participate in educational tours, with a target of 5,000 for the next year. He also directed that the duration of these tours be increased to seven days, including visits to reputed science and technology institutions and military establishments.
Regarding infrastructure, the Chief Secretary ordered acceleration in the development of 559 proposed cluster schools. All Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for identified buildings are to be submitted within a month by the designated executing agencies. DPRs for smart classrooms and computer labs are also to be prepared in the same time frame.
To ensure transport access for students in cluster schools, Bardhan instructed that meetings of district-level committees chaired by respective District Magistrates be held promptly.
