CM unveils several projects in Roorkee

Roorkee, 21 Nov: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today participated in the five-day religious and social festival organised at Jeevandeep Ashram in Roorkee. On this occasion, he inaugurated and dedicated the Swami Satyamitranand Giri Auditorium, the Siddhabali Hanuman Gate, and Shaheed Chowk. He announced that the stretch from main Road till Sunehara Marg Chowk will henceforth be named as Shaheed Chowk.
Addressing the sages, spiritual leaders and the devotees on the occasion, Dhami stated that the saint community is like a living pilgrimage centre as the sages guide the society towards truth. He also paid homage to the late Padma Vibhushan awardee Swami Satyamitranand Giri and offered his salutations to all the sages present on the occasion including Jagadguru Mahamandaleshwar Swami Yatindranand Giri. He also asserted that their divine presence instils new energy in mind and soul.
Speaking about the festival organised by Jeevan Deep Seva Nyas, he noted its blend of spiritual and social programmes including the Shatachandi Mahayagya, Bhaktamal Katha, worship of 1,100 young girls, distribution of study material, and the mass wedding of five girls and stated all this together sends a powerful message of selfless service. He emphasised that Shaheed Chowk will serve as a memorial to the courage and patriotism of martyrs, inspiring future generations.
Dhami praised Swami Satyamitranand Giri for dedicating his life to the service of the nation, religion and humanity, showing society the path of sacrifice, compassion, and service. He said Jeevan Deep Seva Nyas, inspired by the Swami, is engaged in commendable work in education, health, values, women’s empowerment, and cow protection.
The CM asserted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the glory of India’s Sanatan culture has risen globally. He cited the construction of the Ram Mandir, reconstruction of Badrinath and Kedarnath Dhams, the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, and the Mahakal Lok project as historic steps in reviving India’s cultural consciousness. He elaborated that Uttarakhand is working towards becoming the world’s spiritual capital, with projects such as the beautification of Kedar Khand and Manas Khand temple regions, rejuvenation of Yamuna pilgrimage sites, the Haridwar-Rishikesh Corridor, the Sharda Corridor, and the Centre for Hindu Studies at Doon University.
Dhami asserted the government’s commitment to protecting cultural values and social structure. He listed measures taken by the state government including the implementation of the Anti-Conversion Law, strict Anti-Riot Law, and decisive action against extremist practices such as ‘Land Jihad,’ ‘Love Jihad,’ and ‘Spit Jihad.’ He said more than 9,000 acres of government land have been reclaimed, and the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has been implemented in the state. More than 250 illegal madrasas have been sealed, and a new law will abolish the Madrasa Board, under which non-standard madrasas will automatically close from 1 July 2026. He mentioned that under “Operation Kalnemi”, strict action has been taken against those defaming Sanatan Dharma.
On this occasion, Geeta Dhami, wife of CM Dhami, said it was a fortunate day that Jeevan Deep Ashram had organised the festival, and they were privileged to attend. She noted that the Ashram is serving society by upholding Sanatan Dharma, with 1,100 girls being worshipped and fed, and the mass wedding of the girls being performed. She extended her best wishes for their happy and prosperous lives.
During the programme, the CM worshipped 11 girls, presenting them with gifts and dakshina, and blessed the six couples being married on this occasion. Mahamandaleshwar Yatindranand Giri of Juna Akhara expressed gratitude to the CM, public representatives, and local residents for their presence and for the inauguration of the building.
Among those present on the occasion included Akhara Parishad President/Secretary Niranjani Akhara Mahant Ravindra Puri, Bharat Sadhu Samaj leaders Swami Prabodhanand Giri and Swami Rupendra Prakash, Juna Akhara Mahamandaleshwar Swami Maitreyi Giri, Bada Udasin Akhara Mahant Raghavendra Das, Swami Vivekanand Saraswati, Swami Shiv Premanand, Swami Amritanand, Swami Satyavratanand Saraswati, Swami Vinod Maharaj, Swami Prakashanand Maharaj, Lal Batti holder Vinay Rohilla, Zila Panchayat Chairperson Kiran Choudhary, Roorkee Mayor Anita Agarwal, MLA Pradeep Batra, District Party President Madhu Singh, BJP State Vice President Rakesh Giri and Rajendra Choudhary. DM Mayur Dixit, SSP Pramendra Singh Dobhal were also present on this occasion.
