Election Process for New BJP State President Likely to Begin Soon

The election process for the new president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttarakhand is expected to begin soon. Party sources indicate that the process could be initiated anytime before June 15. BJP’s state election officer Khajan Das has hinted that the state unit may get its new president within this timeframe. Adding weight to these speculations, BJP’s state in-charge Dushyant Gautam, who is currently visiting Uttarakhand, also signaled that preparations are underway.

The selection process had been delayed due to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the security operations that followed under Operation Sindoor. Initially, the party had intended to appoint a new state president by April 30. However, with reduced tensions on the India-Pakistan border and a return to normalcy, the BJP is now resuming its internal organisational activities.

According to Khajan Das, the state president must be elected before the national president is chosen. He noted that the central leadership could announce an election observer at any time, which would officially commence the election process in the state.
