Uttarakhand Police Files FIR Against Three Facebook Page Admins for CM Rumour

Uttarakhand Police has registered cases against three Facebook page operators for spreading false rumours about a change in the Chief Minister. The action comes at a time when the state is battling severe disasters, and officials said such misleading posts not only disrupt relief and rescue operations but also hamper governance and administrative functioning.

Police investigations revealed that pages named “I Love My Uttarakhand Sanskriti,” “Uttarakhand Wale,” and “Janata Jan Andolan Irritated” circulated posts suggesting a change in the Chief Minister. Based on this, cases have been filed against the administrators of these pages, and strict legal action is being pursued.

Authorities have appealed to the public to avoid sharing unverified or misleading information on social media. Police also issued a clear warning to those spreading rumours that they will face stringent legal consequences. Meanwhile, continuous monitoring of social media activities is underway to curb the spread of false news.
