The Uttarakhand government under Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will now conduct cabinet meetings at shorter intervals to speed up action on key pending proposals. Having completed over three years in office, the government aims to fast-track decisions related to infrastructure development, industrial investment, agriculture, horticulture, and public welfare schemes.
Several proposals have remained pending due to the long gaps between cabinet meetings. Addressing this concern, CM Dhami has directed Cabinet Secretary Shailesh Bagauli to schedule meetings at fixed intervals in light of the rising number of proposals. As a result, the next cabinet meeting has been scheduled for May 28. Secretary Bagauli confirmed the development, acknowledging that due to the increasing volume of proposals, meetings will now be held more frequently.
Departmental sources revealed that while many new proposals have been sent to the cabinet, earlier pending matters have delayed discussions. This results in a backlog during meetings, reducing the time available for detailed discussion on each proposal. Ministers have also expressed the need for more time to thoroughly deliberate on items brought before the cabinet.
The government believes that holding meetings at shorter intervals will reduce proposal overload and allow sufficient time for focused discussions, leading to more efficient governance and timely policy implementation.
