Uttarakhand CM Dhami Spends Diwali with Disaster-Affected Families in Dehradun

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami celebrated Diwali on Monday with disaster-affected families in Majhada village, located in the Sahastradhara area of Dehradun. The Chief Minister met residents from Kali Gad, Majhada, and nearby regions to hear their concerns, extend Diwali greetings, and review ongoing reconstruction efforts in the disaster-hit zone.

During his visit, Dhami personally interacted with women, children, and villagers, assuring them of full government support for relief and rehabilitation. Acting on local demands, he directed officials to carry out river training work and expedite the construction of protective walls to safeguard the village from future calamities.

Dhami said the state government stands firmly with every affected family and is committed to ensuring their speedy recovery. “The pain of the disaster victims is the government’s pain,” he said, adding that Diwali symbolizes not just light but compassion and unity. He emphasized that hope and positivity should continue to illuminate everyone’s lives.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to accelerate reconstruction works to provide timely relief to affected families. He also directed that children’s education must not be disrupted due to the disaster and that alternative housing arrangements be made on priority. For families currently living on rent, he ordered financial support for rent payment as per government norms.

Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, and other officials were present during the visit.
