Valley of Flowers Closed to Tourists for Safety, 150 Rescued

Valley of Flowers Closure 2024

The Forest Department suspended tourist entry to Uttarakhand’s Valley of Flowers on Wednesday as a safety measure. On Tuesday, around 150 stranded tourists were successfully rescued from the valley with the help of local guides and forest officials.

According to Tarun S., Deputy Director of Nanda Devi National Park, the decision to close tourist access was taken after the valley witnessed adverse weather conditions that posed risks to visitors. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and will decide on reopening the valley for tourists on Thursday after assessing all factors, including weather and trail safety.

The Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts thousands of tourists every monsoon, but its steep trails and high-altitude terrain become dangerous during heavy rains and landslides. Officials are urging visitors to stay updated through official sources before planning their visit.
