Haridwar – A labourer was allegedly duped of lakhs of rupees after being trapped in a fake marriage and trust scam in the city Kotwali area. The accused woman reportedly staged a marriage in a temple and later lured the victim with the promise of arranging a plot, extracting money before fleeing.
According to police, Baburam Saini, a resident of Laljiwala, stated in his court complaint that he met a woman named Savita around eight months ago. She introduced herself as a resident of Saharanpur. After mutual consent, the two performed a temple marriage and lived together for some time.

Baburam further alleged that during his absence, Savita took away gold jewellery, including a ring, earrings, necklace, bangles, silver ornaments, around Rs 50,000 in cash, and the plot agreement documents.
