BRICS Blind Football Tournament: Indian Team Shines with Uttarakhand Players

The Indian Blind Football Team has received an invitation to participate in the BRICS Blind Football Tournament, scheduled from December 16 to 21 in Moscow, Russia. The team comprises experienced and young players, including Uttarakhand’s Shivam Singh Negi and Tushar Kumar as players, with Naresh Singh Nyal serving as assistant coach and goal guide.

Tushar Kumar made a remarkable impact by scoring the winning goal in the opening match against Turkey, securing a 1-0 victory for India. This achievement marks his first international goal in only his second international tournament. Tushar is currently a Class 11 student at the Model School of the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) in Dehradun.

The news sparked celebrations at the institute and the school. Principal Amit Sharma of the Model School described it as a significant success, highlighting the institution’s comprehensive development.

India’s remaining league matches are against Belarus and Russia. The team’s early win has boosted their momentum, raising hopes for a strong performance in the BRICS Blind Football Tournament.
