Folk Singer Kamla Devi to Recreate ‘Bedu Pako Baramasa,’ Elevating Uttarakhand’s Cultural Legacy

The iconic Uttarakhand folk song ‘Bedu Pako Baramasa’ will soon resonate in the soulful voice of celebrated folk singer Kamla Devi. Known for her dedication to preserving folk music for over 22 years, Kamla Devi has become a cultural ambassador for Uttarakhand’s musical heritage. Her performance in Coke Studio India’s song “Sonchadi” earned her national and international acclaim.

During an event at Social Baluni Public School on Wednesday, Kamla Devi expressed her dream of bringing Uttarakhand’s folk songs to mainstream platforms like TV, radio, DJs, and social media. She highlighted that ‘Bedu Pako Baramasa’ is a hallmark of every celebration in the region and singing it is a matter of pride for her.

Kamla Devi also revealed plans for upcoming songs and folk performances aimed at promoting and preserving Uttarakhand’s rich culture. Her efforts promise not only to safeguard the state’s heritage but also to inspire the younger generation to embrace and celebrate their cultural roots.
