Haridwar: A deep sense of devotion and spirituality filled the atmosphere in Haridwar as thousands of devotees gathered on the occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi. The sacred festival witnessed large crowds at Ganga ghats, where pilgrims took holy dips, offered prayers, and performed charitable acts in accordance with religious traditions.
From the early hours of the morning, devotees began arriving at various ghats to bathe in the Ganga and seek blessings. After the ritual bath, worshippers offered water, fruits, and other items in charity, considering it an important part of the festival’s observance. The sound of devotional hymns and Vedic chants echoed across the ghats throughout the day.
Devotees Worship Lord Vishnu
On Nirjala Ekadashi, devotees observed fasting and performed special prayers dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Many families participated together in religious rituals, while large numbers of people gathered for charity and spiritual activities after taking a dip in the holy river.
According to Hindu beliefs, Nirjala Ekadashi is considered one of the most significant Ekadashi fasts. It is believed that worshipping Lord Vishnu and observing the fast on this day brings spiritual merit and blessings. Motivated by this faith, devotees from different regions visited Haridwar to express their devotion through Ganga snan and religious observances.
Police and Administration Remain Alert
Keeping in view the large influx of pilgrims, local authorities implemented extensive security and traffic management arrangements. Police personnel were deployed at major ghats and sensitive locations to ensure the safety of visitors.
Special traffic measures were also put in place to maintain smooth movement in and around the city, helping devotees perform their rituals without inconvenience. Officials continuously monitored crowd movement throughout the day as the festival was observed peacefully.
