The Uttarakhand State Minority Education Authority has prepared a draft religious education curriculum for minority educational institutions and has begun consultations with community representatives and religious leaders before giving it final approval.

A meeting was held at the auditorium of the Minority Welfare Department, where the authority sought suggestions from members of minority communities regarding the proposed curriculum. Officials said the feedback received during the consultation will be considered before the syllabus is finalized.

Authority chairman Dr. Surjeet Singh Gandhi said the curriculum is being designed for students from Classes 1 to 8 studying in minority educational institutions. He added that the consultation process aims to ensure the curriculum reflects the views and expectations of the concerned communities.

The draft has been structured in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and divided into three learning stages. The foundational stage covers Classes 1 and 2, the preparatory stage includes Classes 3 to 5, while the middle stage covers Classes 6 to 8.

According to the proposed framework, students will not undergo written examinations for the subject. Instead, assessment will be conducted through oral questions, competitions and picture-based presentations.
