Police in Pauri have busted an inter-state burglary gang and arrested four accused involved in a series of house thefts. The suspects allegedly targeted locked homes after conducting reconnaissance on a stolen motorcycle. Police solved the case within four days of registering the complaint.
The investigation began after Umesh Chand Bamola, a resident of Kotdwar, lodged a complaint stating that his house was burgled while he and his family were away at their native village during the June holidays. According to the complaint, unidentified thieves stole cash and gold ornaments from the locked residence.
Following the investigation, police arrested four accused identified as Mohit from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, Kasif alias Nanhe from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Aamir from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and Asif alias Aman from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. During the operation, police recovered ₹13,600 in stolen cash from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that they had stolen an Apache motorcycle from the Kichha police station area in Kichha on June 26. The stolen motorcycle was allegedly used to survey residential areas before committing thefts. Police said the gang also stole gold and silver jewellery worth several lakh rupees along with cash from targeted houses.

Investigators further revealed that another key accused, identified as Mohammad Arif of Delhi, is absconding. Police have launched a search operation to trace and arrest the remaining suspect while further investigation into the gang’s activities is underway.
