Uttarakhand Declares ‘Bag-Free Day’ on Last Saturday of Every Month in All Schools

The Uttarakhand government has announced that the last Saturday of every month will now be observed as ‘Bag-Free Day’ in all government and private schools across the state. This new initiative will be implemented starting this Saturday. The aim is to provide students with a stress-free and creative environment that promotes learning beyond textbooks.

Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, while launching the initiative at an SCERT auditorium workshop, said that students will now engage in activities like sports, painting, agriculture, and vocational education on Bag-Free Day. He added that, inspired by practices in foreign countries, schools in Uttarakhand will now foster a cheerful atmosphere that enhances both academic and life skills in children.

During the event, Dr. Rawat also unveiled an activity booklet designed for the initiative. Several senior education department officials and representatives of private schools were present at the launch.
