The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Dehradun on July 10, warning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and intense rain spells. In view of the forecast, the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) has directed all district administrations to take necessary precautionary measures and remain on high alert.
Acting on the IMD advisory, the Dehradun district administration has ordered the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres on July 10 to ensure the safety of students and staff.
According to the District Magistrate’s order, all government, private, aided, and recognised schools, along with Anganwadi centres across the district, will remain closed for one day due to the red alert for heavy rainfall.
The administration has advised residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow weather advisories issued by the authorities. District officials and emergency response teams have also been directed to stay prepared to deal with any rain-related incidents.
