Uttarakhand Municipal Elections: BJP Announces Candidates for 11 Mayor Seats

Ahead of the urban local body elections in Uttarakhand, the BJP has declared its candidates for all 11 mayoral seats. The party released the names in two phases—six initially, followed by five more.

Kiran Jaisal will contest from Haridwar, Asha Upadhyay from Srinagar, Shailendra Rawat from Kotdwar, Kalpana Dewlal from Pithoragarh, Ajay Verma from Almora, and Vikas Sharma from Rudrapur. Additionally, Saurabh Thapliyal has been fielded from Dehradun, Shambhu Paswan from Rishikesh, Anita Devi Aggarwal from Roorkee, Gajraj Singh Bisht from Haldwani, and Deepak Bali from Kashipur.

The elections for 100 urban local bodies, including 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipal councils, and 46 town panchayats, are scheduled for January 23. Voting will be conducted using ballot papers, and results will be announced on January 25. Uttarakhand has a total of 30,83,500 registered voters, comprising 14,93,519 women, 15,89,467 men, and 514 others.
