The shocking murder of retired principal Shyamlal Guruji in Dehradun has been uncovered. Police have arrested the prime suspects—Geeta and her husband, Himanshu Chaudhary. Investigations revealed that Geeta, driven by greed, conspired with her husband to blackmail Shyamlal. When their plan was exposed, they strangled him to death, dismembered the body into four parts, and dumped it in a river in Saharanpur.
Arrests After 24 Days on the Run
After committing the crime, Geeta and Himanshu fled, changing locations from Delhi to Mumbai, Jaipur, Prayagraj, and Kurukshetra before finally reaching Amritsar. The police apprehended them after 24 days.
Shyamlal’s daughter, Nidhi Rathore, had filed a missing complaint on February 7, reporting that her father left on his bike on February 2 but never returned. CCTV footage showed him visiting Geeta’s rented house in Kishannagar Extension, but there was no footage of him leaving.
Further investigation revealed that Geeta and Himanshu were missing. The police tracked their phones and raided Geeta’s parental home in Deoband, Saharanpur, where they detained her brother, Ajay Kumar.
Brother Confesses to the Murder
During interrogation, Ajay Kumar revealed the gruesome details. Geeta and Himanshu murdered Shyamlal on February 2. On February 4, Geeta summoned her brother Ajay and brother-in-law Dhanraj Chawla to help dispose of the body. They dumped it in Saharanpur’s Sakhan River.
On February 19, police arrested Ajay and Dhanraj, and based on their statements, recovered Shyamlal’s body parts on February 20. Since then, the search for Geeta and Himanshu was ongoing.
Blackmail, Illicit Affair, and Greed
Shyamlal, a retired government inter-college principal, ran an NGO where Geeta worked. Their closeness led to an affair. Geeta was previously married and had a daughter, but after her husband discovered her affair, they divorced.
Later, Geeta grew close to MBBS student Himanshu Chaudhary, whom she married in May 2024. Despite knowing about her past relationship with Shyamlal, Himanshu supported her, motivated by financial greed.
Murder Plot and Execution
Geeta and Himanshu set up hidden cameras in their rented room to secretly record Shyamlal and blackmail him. On February 2, Shyamlal noticed the cameras and confronted them. In response, Geeta and Himanshu strangled him to death.
On February 3, they returned, dismembered the body into four parts, and packed them in plastic bags. On February 4, Geeta’s brother and brother-in-law transported the body to Saharanpur and dumped it in a river. To mislead the police, they abandoned Shyamlal’s bike near ISBT Dehradun and removed its number plate.
Final Escape and Arrest
After the murder, Geeta left her three-year-old daughter at her parental home and fled with Himanshu to Delhi. They kept shifting cities but were eventually caught in Amritsar.
