The bail plea of former Khanpur MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion in the Roorkee government residence firing case was rejected by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court on Friday. The police had filed a chargesheet under the section for attempted culpable homicide.
According to the prosecution, on January 26, Champion and his associates fired multiple rounds at the government residence of MLA Umesh Kumar. Following the incident, the police arrested Champion and four others on January 27, sending them to judicial custody.
On February 27, the police submitted a chargesheet, modifying the charges from attempted murder to attempted culpable homicide, incorporating IPC Section 110 instead of 109, along with other sections. The court had accepted the chargesheet.

During the bail plea hearing on Friday, both sides presented their arguments. After deliberation, the court rejected Champion’s bail application.
